Chris works closely with a small number of partners. A personal connection, opportunity for real involvement, accessibility to all, the chance to share his passion for cycling and a chance to support British business are all important to him when identifying these partnerships.
Promoting the benefits of exercise to everyone, Chris really enjoys his role as Ambassador, occasionally surprising gym members by turning up unexpectedly! His enthusiasm and motivation for those on their own journeys to everyday greatness can be seen on every visit.
It was Chris’ dream to have his own bike range so his partnership with Evans was a real milestone. HOY Bikes gives Chris a chance to truly ‘get his hands dirty’ as he is involved in every stage of production from the initial designs through to visiting the factories that manufacture the bike parts.
Passionate about helping British businesses thrive, Chris enjoys getting involved in new product development in his role as Brand Ambassador for Science in Sport. When new products hit the shelves, Chris not only happily endorses them (in his own words they ‘taste amazing’) but enjoys knowing he played a small part in bringing them to market.
Chris was a member of the British Cycling squad for 18 years so his role as Ambassador enables him to maintain his involvement and support the next generation of cyclists with his experience and passion for the sport. Whether it’s fronting national campaigns, attending events or conducting media interviews, Chris fulfills his Ambassadorial role with ease.
As a father to two young children, Chris has a special connection with UNICEF and the important work the organisation carries out globally. He has been supporting them since 2009, first through his role as an International Inspiration Ambassador for London 2012’s International Legacy Programme, and then from 2013 when he was announced UNICEF UK Ambassador in recognition of his continued and tireless support of their work. Chris has visited programmes in Malawi and Madagascar, as well as supporting several campaigns including UNICEF UK’s Children of Syria emergency appeal, the East Africa nutrition crisis and their Family Reunion campaign.
Chris is proud to be SAMH’s Ambassador for mental health and well-being, a role he has held since 2009. He believes talking about our mental health should be as easy as talking about our physical health and is therefore a great supporter of the work SAMH carry out in communities across Scotland.
Laureus is a global movement that celebrates the power of sport to bring people together as a force for good. Chris became a member of the Laureus World Sports Academy in 2017 and saw it as a huge honour. Having had such an incredible impact on his life, he is passionate about using sport to help youth and takes a huge amount of pride in supporting Laureus Sport For Good.
